Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has said there is currently no plan for a second round of negotiations with the United States, stating that Washington is not serious about diplomacy and has violated ceasefire provisions.
Speaking during a press conference, he described US proposals as unserious and demands as unrealistic, adding that Iran has clearly defined its position and will not change it.
He emphasised that Iran does not believe in deadlines or ultimatums when it comes to protecting national interests. On nuclear issues, he said removing stockpiles was never an option and Iran remains committed to preserving its nuclear achievements within its territory.
Officials also stated that Iran’s defensive capabilities, including its missile programme, are not open to negotiation. Concerns remain as differences over Iran’s nuclear programme persist while efforts continue to maintain a fragile ceasefire.
Tensions have escalated following the seizure of an Iranian cargo vessel by US forces. Iran warned of retaliation, calling the action a violation and an act of aggression.
China has also expressed concern over the situation, urging all parties to avoid escalation and maintain stability in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route.
The United States has maintained a blockade of Iranian ports, while Iran has alternated its own restrictions on maritime traffic through the strait. The situation has raised fears about global energy supply disruptions.
Military officials in Iran have stated they are prepared to respond to any further aggression, while diplomatic uncertainty continues over whether future negotiations will take place.
