Jamaat-e-Islami Announces Nationwide Protest on July 10 Against Expensive Petrol

He also said LPG has been officially priced at Rs. 241 per kilogram but is being sold in the market for Rs. 500 per kilogram, and vowed to continue protesting for the rights of the people. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that previous public protests played an important role in pressuring the government to reduce fuel prices. Referring to those demonstrations, he stated that public participation had compelled the authorities to provide relief and argued that continued public support was necessary to achieve further reductions. He urged citizens to come out on Friday and participate in protests to demand additional relief from the government regarding fuel prices and other issues affecting the public. Speaking about the price of petrol, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman stated that petrol should not cost more than **Rs. 225 per litre**. He maintained that the current price remains higher than what he believes it should be and argued that consumers are continuing to bear an unnecessary financial burden. He further said that more than **Rs. 118 per litre** is still being collected in the form of taxes, including the petroleum levy. According to his remarks, these taxes are a major reason why petrol prices remain elevated. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman also highlighted the issue of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices. He said that the official price of LPG has been fixed at **Rs. 241 per kilogram**, but claimed that it is being sold in the market for **Rs. 500 per kilogram**. He stated that this significant difference between the official and market prices is creating additional hardship for consumers and called attention to what he described as the gap between the notified rate and the actual selling price. Reiterating his position, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman urged the public to join the planned protest on Friday and emphasized that the movement would continue. He said the campaign aims to secure further relief for the people and pledged to continue protesting for the rights of the public. According to his statement, the protests will continue until meaningful relief is provided and the concerns raised regarding fuel prices, taxes, and LPG pricing are addressed.
