ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has scheduled May 7 for the hearing of appeals filed by former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the £190 million corruption case.

The court is currently reviewing petitions seeking suspension of sentences handed down by an accountability court in January last year, where Imran Khan was sentenced to 14 years and Bushra Bibi to 7 years in prison.

The case is linked to the Al-Qadir Trust, a welfare organisation established in 2018, which is accused of being used to receive land worth millions of dollars from a real estate tycoon.

Authorities allege that financial benefits were exchanged through the use of repatriated funds from the United Kingdom, which were instead used to settle liabilities of a businessman rather than being deposited into the national treasury.

Imran Khan has denied all allegations, stating that neither he nor his wife received any personal financial benefit from the trust or related transactions.

In a separate development, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted a challan in the prohibited funding case against Imran Khan and other PTI leaders.

The court also heard additional matters related to Bushra Bibi’s health and jail conditions. The Islamabad High Court directed jail authorities to decide within two days on an application seeking medical access and family visitation rights.

During proceedings, the court was informed that Bushra Bibi recently underwent eye surgery following a retinal condition diagnosed by medical experts, after which she was returned to Adiala Jail.

Separately, the court also heard a petition regarding blocking Imran Khan’s social media account on X and issued notices to concerned parties, including PTI leadership.

Imran Khan, who has been detained since August 2023, is currently facing multiple legal cases including corruption, prohibited funding, and anti-terrorism charges related to May 9 incidents.
