Punjab Imposes Section 144 Around Airports and PAF Bases for 30 Days
May 2026 | By Azad News HD
The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in areas surrounding airports and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bases for a period of 30 days to ensure aviation safety and prevent potential risks to flight operations.
According to an official notification issued by the Home Department, certain activities near aviation zones were identified as potential threats to aircraft safety and operational security.
The banned activities include pigeon homing, the use of laser lights by commercial establishments such as hotels and malls, and the throwing of meat (sadqa) in open areas or rooftops.
Authorities stated that these practices can attract birds near flight paths, increasing the risk of bird strikes and endangering both passengers and aircraft.
The restriction applies within a 13-kilometre radius of all PAF bases and commercial airports across Punjab and comes into immediate effect.
Officials said the decision was taken under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to maintain public safety, protect aviation assets, and ensure uninterrupted flight operations.
The government also highlighted that similar awareness campaigns have been conducted in the past, especially during Eidul Azha, to discourage practices that attract birds near airports.
The move aims to reduce aviation hazards and improve overall security around sensitive airspace zones in the province.
Conclusion
The enforcement of Section 144 reflects Punjab’s efforts to strengthen aviation safety measures and prevent avoidable risks to air traffic operations near airports and military bases.
